Halloween

Halloween was a fun, busy time for us! The kids were so excited for Halloween this year. It is fun as the kids get older and understand more of what's going and help plan the details. This was the first year I didn't make Halloween costumes. Mike felt I had enough on my plate with the new baby that I didn't need to add stress to my life. I think the kids were thrilled to actually get to pick a costume from the store (or online). Gavin chose Iron Man (no shock there) and Alyssa chose Cinderella. I already had a bee costume that Rylan wore. Alyssa loved being a princess and having her hair all fancy and makeup on. When I put mascara on her, it really emphasized how long those lashes actually were and how they naturally curled up. She even looked in the mirror and said, "wow! they're huge...I am gorgeous!" It was really funny. I got asked many times if her lashes were fake...I am jealous!

I was having withdrawals from not making costumes, so I decided I needed to make trick or treat bags. It was fun. I got some cute Halloween fabric from JoAnns and made 4 different bags. The kids loved them so it was a success. I like how they will fold up nice and small and I won't be storing big, bulky buckets anymore!

Gavin had a school carnival the day before Halloween so the kids got to dress up for that and it was fun. There were tons of people at the carnival so it was hot and crowded, but the kids really enjoyed it and were sad when it was time to leave.

Gavin didn't have school on Halloween so we got to do some fun things together. We made and decorated sugar cookies - and even took some to Mike's work - we read Halloween stories, and played. It was a great day. Our ward has a combined trick or treat party with the local Lutheran church so we went to that. Normally it is a trunk or treat, but last year proved to get out of control with all the outsiders that this year they decided to do a controlled trick or treat in the church gym. We got there 15 minutes after it started and it was almost over! We had lots of leftover candy; we were glad since it was all chocolate! After going to the church activity, we hopped in the car and went trick or treating to a couple of friends' houses. Alyssa couldn't wait to go see her primary teacher and her teacher was equally as excited to see her. They even had a picture taken together. We also went to visit some of Mike's coworkers and then to Swenson's, Christensen's, and McBride's. We made a big loop from Ogden to Farmington and back. Needless to say, the kids were tired when we got home and slept great! Early the next morning we headed to Boise for Troy & Mary's baby blessing ~ it was an exciting, fun-filled, whirlwind weekend! Of course, the kids are already telling me what they want to be next year.
