Tour de Cure Ride

Mike has recently taken up cycling. After years of claiming "Roadies" were not real bikers, he bought a road bike a few months ago and has been training to ride in the Tour de Cure Ride being held in Brigham City on June 13th. This is a ride to support Diabetes research. Both of my grandmas have diabetes; my great-grandma also had the disease. I have seen the heartbreaking consequences of diabetes and hope I never get the disease. I know I need to make some changes in my life to make sure that never happens!

Several of my family members have also started road biking and decided to form a team - Team Norma - and participate in the Tour de Cure event. I think it is awesome. I am so very proud of Mike. He has worked hard - in just a short period of time. Last week he rode up to his parents' house and back - 80 miles! On his way home, he even had a flat tire and fixed it and continued riding. His goal is to complete the Century Ride in the Tour de Cure - which is 104 miles! Other family members (including my mom) are riding in the 69 and 25 mile courses. They are all absolutely amazing! I think it is tiring enough to ride 100 miles in the car (especially with all of the kids:))!

If you want to sponsor Mike - and support Diabetes research, you can here.

Go Team Norma!!!

When we were in Idaho for Easter, my mom, my aunt, and Mike all went for a training ride. They rode 30 miles! I think it is remarkable Mike can go on long rides with his mother-in-law. I would never be able to make a ride that long!
