Bountiful Baskets 3-6-10

This morning Mike went and helped volunteer at Bountiful Baskets. He had a good time and was glad he went to help out. He said he would probably do it again next week. One of the perks of volunteering in the morning is that you often get some extra produce. This was our haul this morning:

16 mandarin oranges
17 bananas
16 braeburn apples
2 bunches of asparagus
2 blueberries packs (6 oz each)
1 lb strawberries
5 english cucumbers
1 bunch of spinach
1 bunch of red leaf lettuce
2 heads of cabbage
5 concord pears
8 zucchini

We got a lot of extra today. The standard portion should have been 10 oranges, 10 bananas, 8 apples, 1 asparagus, 1 cabbage. I am sure there isn't always extra produce for the volunteers, but it was sure nice to get some extra today.

We also ordered the Mexican Cooking pack. In that pack we received, avocados, limes, garlic, cilantro, Mexican zucchinis, onion, green onions, jalapenos, some varieties of dried chiles.

Our total for today was $23.

We made blueberry wheat pancakes this morning using the fresh blueberries and the kids gobbled them up!

Tell me when you're making something with the cilantro, avocado and lime. I'll be over!

Wow, that produce looks amazing! We have a co-op down here but I hear it's hard to get into. Pancakes sound great too.

wow, never heard of such a thing. Good for you two and that's nice that you come home with extra food.
