You Know You are Old.....

I will post an update about Christmas and such soon; however, Gavin just said something funny and I had to write it down before I forgot. We bought the movie "Annie" for Christmas. I hadn't seen it since I was a kid and so it has been fun to watch again (even though there are some funny risque parts in it that I catch now as a parent but obviously never understood as a kid - even my mom was shocked at some of the parts knowing she let us watch it as kids). Like true Henrie children, my kids saw the movie once and picked up on the tunes right away. Gavin goes around singing phrases like "It's a hard-knock life for us...." and "let's go to the movies...". The kids just asked me if they could watch the movie again. I was making flower bows and so I told them to go ahead and put it in. As Gavin put the movie in, he asked me when it was made. I told him I didn't know. He then said, "was it made in the 'one thousands'?" I had to think about it and when I realized he meant before the year 2000 - I chuckled and told him yes. He then said, "then it really is an old movie, huh mom?!" For some reason I hadn't put things into that perspective before. Anything prior to the year 2000 was a LONG time ago to him since he wasn't born until 2002.

He also said he doesn't want to be an orphan. He said he would then end up in a boys' home and Alyssa would end up in a girls' home and they wouldn't see each other. I guess that means he really does love his sister. :) Gavin and Alyssa also started coming up today and saying, "We love you Jamie...." but it was in the same "tune" as the famous line, "We love you Miss Hanagan." They were turning Jamie into 4 syllables to make it fit. It was pretty cute.
