My first pair of mittens
Ignore the picture of Gavin with his eyes closed. He was in a hurry to catch the bus and he wanted to wear his new mittens....however, I didn't have a picture of them yet and I wanted a picture in case he lost them (can't be too sure with a 6 year old!). Anyway, these are my first pair of mittens I have knitted. My Grandma Sage is a master mitten knitter. I got a copy of the pattern she uses and I finally decided to try to figure it out. They were much easier than I thought they would be. I still need to figure out how to do the thumb better, but I thought they turned out pretty good for a first attempt. I started a pair for Alyssa with some self-striping pink and purple yarn. However, Rylan recently got mischevious and he got into my project and grabbed scissors and cut the mitten from the skein of yarn so now I have to reattach the yarn and keep on working. I am grateful he didn't actually cut the mitten! That boy is a challenge! You know you are in trouble when you haven't heard him in awhile and so you are running through the house yelling his name and he won't answer.....and then you find him quietly cutting the knitting project behind my recliner!
