Alyssa's funny comments

This is a random post. I still have things to add to the blog to make events in chronological order - but I had to write these things down before I forgot.

The other day we went and did some school shopping. When we were done, the kids were telling us how hungry they were. We were all hungry. Mike told them we were on our way home and then we would fix some lunch and eat. The kids were less than enthused about that idea. I think the kids just thought we would take them to McDonalds. We have raised spoiled kids!

Anyway, I look back at Alyssa sitting in her carseat and she is biting her toenails. Disgusting. Both Gavin and Alyssa have been doing this lately. I remember doing it as a kid as well - I must have passed the disgusting toenail-biting gene on to them! Every time I see them do this, I yell at them to stop and tell them it is gross. When I saw Alyssa, I told her to stop. She just replied, "But I'm hungry!" That is just sick! :) Mike was trying so hard not to laugh as I scolded her. A couple of weeks ago, she said the same kind of thing. She told us she didn't want to eat lunch. She was full. She bit her toenails.

Last Sunday, after church, I guess a boy was "beating Gavin up" (according to Gavin). I hate when the primary classes get out before everyone else and the kids are roaming the halls waiting for Mike or I to get out. Granted, it is just a few minutes - or less - but it only takes a second for kids to get in trouble! So, I guess this little boy was pinching Gavin and just bugging him. Gavin's friend was trying to help defend him. However, no friend can match the love of a sister! I guess Alyssa saw this injustice and yelled at the boy, "Hey, that's my brother (pronounce it browda). I WILL protect him!" I think Gavin was embarrassed. Apparently, he just moaned, "Thanks, Alyssa."

We can't wait for Alyssa to start Kindergarten in a few years - that way she can always stick up and protect her big "browda".
