First Swimming Day of the Year

For Family Home Evening yesterday we took the kids to the pool in North Ogden. I really wish I would have taken a camera. The kids were so cute and they had so much fun. We bought passes this year because we plan on going a lot. We stopped at Little Caesars and got a cheese pizza and took it in with us for dinner. The pool wasn't crowded which made it nice. I wasn't sure about going because Rylan had been sick the day before and he still had a bit of a cough and was grumpy during the day; Mike convinced me it would be fine. We think he is just getting more teeth through anyway. I am glad we went because Rylan absolutely LOVED it. It was fun because he can walk this year and he loved throwing the pool toys and retrieving them. He even loved the little kiddie slide and just kept going down it. He really had no fear! Alyssa was just happy doing whatever and going down the slides. This year she wasn't afraid to go down the bigger slide in the kid area. Last year she just stuck to the frog slide. Oh ya - she also packed our home phone in her swim bag "in case we need to make a call". I just laughed - we have cell phones! Gavin loved going in the lazy river and spent some one on one time with his dad. Mike was trying to work on his swimming, but Gavin just wanted to play.

After the pool, we went and bought some goggles last night that a swimming teacher recommended and we plan on using some techniques from her she has put in a little book to help our kids learn some water/swimming basics (www.teachyourchildtoswim.com). Gavin passed level 1 last year and we will probably sign him up again for a session this year - but at $45 a session, it is pretty steep. We want to work with them a lot on our own so they will be good swimmers and love the water. The kids are now begging to go again today, but the weather doesn't look very cooperative. :(

WE LOVE SUMMER!!!!

Here are just some generic pictures of the North Ogden Pool you can find on their website just so you can see where we went and what we did. Next time we are definitely taking our own camera!
