Gavin and Alyssa wouldn't take a pacifier. I worked really hard with Rylan so he would take one (because the study came out from the AAP right around the time Rylan was born indicating pacifer use reduced the risk of SIDS). Rylan became a very strong binkie boy. We had many, many nights of waking up to look for the pacifer he had pushed out of his crib. I even bought a special set of mesh-like bumper pads that would be safe for him to lean against hoping they would keep the binkie in the crib during the night and prevent those "hunting" adventures at 3am! We had lots of extra binkies with us at all times in case Rylan had a meltdown somewhere. Really, really annoying! Cambrie is my very first finger sucker. She doesn't suck her thumb. She prefers to suck on two fingers. Her cousin, Sarah, used to do the same thing. I will eventually break this habit, but I do think it is really convenient that she has what she needs to soothe herself back to sleep and I don't need to get up and hunt for a stupid binkie that has fallen back behind the crib. It is kind of cute, don't you think?

Oh those are the exact 2 Brandon sucked!! I LOVE IT!! Much easier than pacifiers! All of our kids have done fingers or thumbs but Brooke---about 2 months ago she broke herself of the paci and she will NOT suck her thumb either---a PAIN sometimes!!
That is a really cute picture! I'm not sure how I feel about the subject. Crew wouldn't take a pacifier at all, which I kind of hated, and he woke up to eat in the night until he was 8 months old. Drake loves his pacifier and has slept through the night since he was 2 months old. I'm worried though about breaking the habit. Because now Drake wants the pacifier all the time, and yes, we do have to get his binkie back in his mouth at 4 am! Hmmmm....the habits we allow our kids to create! Not quite sure if I will ever learn!
