I wasn't going to post this, but the more I think about it, the more I want to remember it - and it really was a cute kid moment.
I have had a problem with my hip for over a year now. It is my right hip. (My left side is the side I generally have the sciatica issues - so it hasn't been fun when that flares up and I have two painful points!) There is a spot in my right hip that always hurts. At first I thought I must have bumped something and it was bruised....but a bruise never developed. I can't even lay on that side for more than a minute or two without it hurting so bad that I have to move. Oh well.
I have gotten "used to it" over the past year. It started just before I got pregnant with Cambrie. I had gone to the dr. that month for a sore throat and mentioned it to her and she thought it was probably just from carrying my kids on that hip (whatever!). While I was pregnant, my OB told me that nobody would treat me until after I had the baby, so I just learned to live with it. Well, now that I have had the baby and have healed from the c-section, I finally decided to do something about my hip and I had a dr. appointment this past week.
I was hoping they would be able to diagnose me right away. I was disappointed. They aren't really sure what is wrong, but they want to take the simple approach and try a few things before they do x-rays or "expensive diagnostic test" (I honestly would rather have the "expensive tests" right now!). The dr. did tell me I am mis-aligned. My right hip is considerably higher than my left and he said that mis-alignment will definitely contribute to my back problems, my sciatica issues, and other pain. He has ordered physical therapy for me to try to help get realigned. :)
He also decided to give me a cortisone shot that day in a few places in my hip to see if it would help (although he said we won't know if it will help until the weekend). Gavin and Alyssa were in the room with me. Mike was in the waiting room with Rylan and Cambrie (Rylan was being a NIGHTMARE!). The dr. told Gavin and Alyssa he would be giving me a shot. They seemed ok with it and wanted to stay in the room. However, I guess as he started giving me the shot, it made Alyssa nervous. She quickly got out of her seat and crossed the room to sit by Gavin. Suddenly they both started singing, "The sun will come out....tomorrow...." I just had to smile. My little musical children - comforted by a song. I guess I need to download the Annie soundtrack and put it on my ipod! :
