Thanksgiving

We always have Thanksgiving with Mike's family. Thanksgiving is Mike's favorite holiday. He even said when he was on his mission, he wanted his family to record the dinner conversation and send him the tapes. He really does have a great family so I can understand missing those family dinners!

This year, we gathered in Tremonton. Mike's parents hosted the event again this year. The original plan was to have Thanksgiving at Uncle David and Aunt Julie's home; however, their adoption for their twins from the Ukraine was approved and so they had to leave the country and go to the Ukraine - basically at a moment's notice! We missed several family members this year but we were grateful both Grandpa and Grandma H. felt well enough to come up from Utah County and spend the holiday with those of us who could gather. It is always special to spend time with them!

Last year Gavin wanted to make placemats for everyone for Thanksgiving. They were super cute. This year, Grandma asked our kids to color little turkey place settings. They were so excited to do them and they turned out really cute. They colored the turkey head, the tail feathers, and the nametag. We then taped the pieces to apples - so we had turkey apples at each person's plate. The kids were very proud of them!

We were happy to spend a wonderful day with family - and of course with delicious food! We loved visiting with everyone (and some even enjoyed naps while others went through the paper looking for good deals for Black Friday!) We also got to meet Chris & Whitney's little girl for the first time and she was so cute. I think she had some grandparents, uncles and aunts excited to try feeding her new things and getting different reactions. Like usual, the pretend subway sandwich kit was a favorite toy with the kids. Rylan kept sharing the mustard or ketchup bottles with Chris & Whitney's little girl - who I think thought it was a bottle and really was hoping for a drink!

We are so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful family. We are thankful for each of them and for all they do for us. I am particularly grateful to have been welcomed into Mike's family so many years ago! Thank you!
